So Easy DIY Eye Contouring Gel-The Ultimate Anti Aging Recipe!
The eye area is typically the first area to show age due to the delicate tissue around the eyes. From puffy bags, dark circles, dehydration and crow’s feet the eyes need a supportive serum to soften and correct. This recipe contains an active marine ingredient that will address ALL your eye concerns. And the best part is, it’s easy to work with, affordable and effective in a simple base of Aloe Vera Gel!

By the age of 30, it is recommended to start using an eye serum whether you are showing signs of aging or not. The skin around the eyes is prone to dehydration which can cause premature wrinkles. The eyes are also prone to water retention and discoloration due to thinning skin. Personally, I’m always on the hunt to de-puff my under eye bags and reduce under eye circles. I wrote an entire article based on my own research hoping to keep under eye bags to a minimum. While searching I came across the ingredient, Eyedeline. Because it is meant to address many of our anti aging eye care concerns I thought I’d try it.
I am happy to say this DIY eye serum is incredibly effective and a product I plan to use indefinitely. I’m sharing with you exactly what this ingredient is and how it works as well as how I have incorporated into my daily skincare routine.
What is Eyedeline?
According to Lotioncrafter:
EYEDELINE™ marine ingredient is a new cosmetic active which provides complete care of the eye contour area by reducing fluid extravasation and increasing the degradation of bilirubin. It also boosts collagen and elastin synthesis and decreases the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), for a brighter and younger look. It is part of Lipotec’s new BIOINTEC™ blue biotechnology line of biotechnological ingredients. Isolated from a natually-occuring marine microorganism (E. crustaceum) isolated in Playa Paraiso, Tenerife Island in Spain, it is produced through biotechnology, so there is no harvesting or extracting from nature.
Cosmetic Benefits:
-
Decreases vascular permeability to ameliorate eyebags and dark circles
-
Enhances bilirubin degradation to reduce the vascular pigmentation that causes dark coloration under the eyes
-
Promotes the production of type I collagen and elastin by dermal fibroblasts
-
Diminishes glycation of collagen to maintain strength and elasticity of the dermis
-
In vivo, it improves the appearance of all signs of aging in the eye contour area, including dark circles, puffiness and wrinkles
Eyedeline can make up 1-4% of a product and is only soluble in water. It is affordable at $10 for 8 grams.

Other Ingredients in Eye Contouring Gel:
Aloe Vera Gel stimulates fibroblasts activity which encourages collagen production. Aloe contains zinc which acts as an astringent which tightens skin. Aloe also contains antioxidants C and E which help combat age accelerating free radicals.
Aloe vera gel prevents tyrosinase (the enzyme responsible for skin discoloration) from causing damage, essentially suppressing UV-induced hyperpigmentation.
Aloe is made mostly of water which helps deliver a hardy dose of hydration to the skin which can be very helpful when dealing with the thinner skin around the eyes.
Cypress Essential Oil helps increase blood circulation which in turn may help reduce the appearance of dark circles. It also has been used as a diuretic and helps flush excess water out of the body. It may be helpful reducing fluid retention when used topically. Cypress oil is also an astringent which helps tighten the skin.
Lavender Essential Oil is soothing and can accelerate skin healing. It also helps with drainage and may help to drain excess fluid from under the eye.
Frankincense Essential Oil is known for its ability to regenerate cells. It also is a powerful antioxidant and astringent.
DIY Eye Contouring Gel Recipe:
This recipe is formulated for a 1/2 ounce.
A preservative is not added because the Aloe Vera Gel has its own preservative. Adding essential oils can also help keep mold and bacteria away. I do recommend using your eye contouring gel within in 2 months. Keeping it in a beauty fridge is highly recommended as well due to the de puffing effects of applying a cold product to the skin. Plus, keeping it in a fridge can prolong the shelf life.
I also recommend that you store your DIY eye serum in a glass bottle.

Where to Get The Best Ingredients:
There are many options for Aloe Vera Gel. I really like Mountain Rose Herb’s Aloe but it is very watery. I wanted to try a brand that has a thicker gel so I bought Plant Therapy’s aloe. This aloe is very thick which makes it really nice in skincare serums like this one. I wouldn’t recommend it in a toner since it is so thick. I also get most of my essential oils from Plant Therapy. Eyedeline is from Lotioncrafter.
This is the simplest DIY eye serum. It’s affordable to make and takes minutes! I honestly don’t see any need in spending a lot of money on anti aging products at this point. Finding effective actives and adding the appropriate proportion to natural bases such as organic oils and water based ingredients is such an easy as well as effective way to tackle aging skin. It’s a great DIY eye serum to use daily to help support and correct the skin around the eyes! If you make it, let me know what you think!
