Signature Hair Consults with K8: for those with Hair a Medium Thickness
First up?: Bridget! Bridget is our Creative Designer here at The Small Things and has beautiful hair. Read her consult below!

Absolutely beautiful natural color! It’s a striking brunette that people pay big bucks to achieve. Your hair looks healthy and strong, but you mention having trouble getting volume.
I love the current length of your hair–if it gets much longer, I could see that it may feel heavy, so then I would maybe consider some long, subtle layering, primarily around the perimeter of the hair.
Product Recommendations: I really love Kenra Volume Mist as well as Alterna Caviar Volume Spray. Both of those volumizing sprays work well without leaving a heavy residue on the root!
I would encourage you to try using rollers in the mohawk section of your hair. Glide the flat iron along the section for smoothness, then spray with a bit of flexible hold hairspray, and then set in a velcro roller for at least 10 minutes.
I bet you would love a volume shampoo with a smoothing conditioner. Have you tried L’Oreal Elvive Hyaluron Plump? That is awesome for volume. I would also recommend trying Unite Le: Play Hairspray–it’s flexible but also strong enough to hold the style.
Way to go on keeping your hair healthy and strong. I hope the volumizing recommendations help you!

Your hair looks gorgeous, shiny, and healthy! That’s impressive with blonde hair, so you’re doing a lot of the right things! It looks like you could use about 2 inches off the ends. A nice, blunt cut would suit you! Your hair looks like it’s in great shape, and since you’re only washing a couple of times a week, I think that’s why it looks generally healthy and calm!
Product Recommendations: Stick with a regular shampoo and conditioner, especially something for color-treated hair. An old classic is Redken Color Extend! I also really love VERB hair products for you.
Keep doing what you’re doing! That slight trim will keep your hair healthy for a long time to come!

I absolutely love the color of your hair, and the length looks like it suits you perfectly! You mention that you tend to have oily hair and buildup after a few days. I think you will just have to battle heavy oil production, and you’re doing the right thing by using dry shampoo on the second day! Make sure your hairbrushes are clean, and you’re blow-drying upside down!
Product Recommendations: I would try to use a clarifying shampoo, maybe start out by using it once a week. And be sure on every other day that you’re using a volumizing shampoo. You can continue to use a regular conditioner, but a volumizing shampoo is going to do better at deeply cleaning your hair than maybe a smoothing shampoo, for example.
You can also try a scalp scrub, perhaps a clarifying scalp scrub with a scalp brush to really deeply clean your hair when you wash it!
I hope this helps!
