Hello hello! Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers! I know it has been a hot minute since I’ve posted, but I’ve been busy with work this month. I’ll actually be having Thanksgiving next week with my family instead of tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’ll still be watching the Macy’s Parade and the dog show. Tonight I’ve got the Noodles Nail Polish Holiday Collection to share with you. It is a 6-piece collection of glitter and flakie goodness. Oh, and the NNP Black Friday sale starts at the same time! Here’s what Natalie had to say about the sale:

Best Techniques for Smoothing Out and Removing Glitter *updated 1/30/24*

Noodles Nail Polish is all about the glitter, all the time. While we all love the bling, it can be a pain to remove. Oh, and it can be known to eat topcoat which leaves texture on the nail after it dries. If you are especially sensitive to feeling your polish, make sure your topcoat is a thick one, or apply a second coat of a thinner one.

Instead of applying 2 coats of thick topcoat, several indie brands have come out with a product that you use after your last coat of polish and before your topcoat. These are generally thick and “fill in” the gaps left from the glitter. Here are several products I use and recommend (in no particular order):

3. Criminally Smooth Glitter Smoothing topcoat (dries with a matte finish unlike the others)

6. Smooth and Shine Duo from Esmaltes da Kelly (available through Polish Pickup some months)

To use these glitter grabbing topcoats, it’s best to let the polish to dry for several minutes before applying. If you apply the glitter grabber too quickly, the nail polish can eat up the glitter grabber a little, making the polish continue to have a little texture, even after the addition of a quick-dry topcoat. Using it this way requires a little more patience, but it’s totally worth it.

I also use peel-off basecoats to make removal a breeze. I recommend UNT Ready for Take Off, Hit the Bottle Keepin’ it Peel, or Black Dahlia Lacquer as they all work well (I am not affiliated with any site or brand…I’m just sharing the love). The UNT works better for my body chemistry as the Hit the Bottle will sometimes pop off during the day. It seems like the UNT has been harder to find lately, so there’s always the Holo Taco one if you really need one. If you want your polish to last a little longer, I completely understand. In that case, the foil method will work best for you when you’re ready for a change. Clips like these are cheap and great for keeping the cotton balls in place. Noodles Nail Polish Christmas Queen (3 coats)

We’re starting off so strong with one of my favorite polishes! This is Christmas Queen which is a clear-based polish with metallic red and green glitter, matte white/green/pink/blue glitter, and white matte snowflakes. You can definitely use this as a topper, but I think this looks so good in 3 coats, and it fully covers the nail. I recommend flipping the bottle for at least 10-15 minutes before using it to bring those larger snowflakes to the top. I had to dip a couple times to get the snowflakes, but I didn’t have to dig around. This dries with lots of texture, so bust out that glitter smoothing topcoat.

It’s not the holidays without Natalie’s famous white glitter crellies! Looking Fab-Yule-Us is a white crelly base with metallic raspberry/copper/red/green glitters in various hexagonal glitter sizes. Depending on your application, you may need 2 or 3 coats. I used 2 thicker coats for full coverage, and it does dry with texture from the glitter. To get a smooth finish, I still recommend a glitter grabber.

Noodles Nail Polish Miss Peppermint (2 coats)

Continuing on, we have Miss Peppermint which is another top pick from the collection. If you look back at my post from 2022, Miss Peppermint is in the same vein as Miss Mistletoe, but this one is definitely a lighter and more pastel color. Miss Peppermint is described as a pale aqua crelly base with matte white and red glitters and metallic green glitters. To my eye it’s more of a really pale mint green instead of aqua. It’s like a mint chocolate ice cream with not much food coloring and red and green glitter instead of chocolate shavings. Does that description help? Depending on your application and nail length, you may need 2 or 3 coats for this one.

Here’s another stunning favorite of mine: Northern Skies is a medium dusty denim blue crelly (more on the jelly side) with aqua/purple/green color shifting flakes, white matte glitter, and lime/gold iridescent glitters. Just look at the depth that these flakes add to the polish! *chef’s kiss* You know I love a mix of flakes and glitter, and you add in a dusty base color?! It’s like Natalie made this one just for me. Since this is on the jelly side, I ended up using 3 thin coats for my swatches, and you’ll need a glitter smoothing topcoat to smooth that finish.

Ready to Jingle is another polish that can be used on its own or as a glitter topper. I found these to be a bit more glitter dense which is why I chose to really build it up (and it just looks gorgeous with all that glitter piled on). It’s a red/gree/copper shifting shimmer base with matte white/red/green metallic and orange/green iridescent glitters. If you want to see these as toppers, I’m pretty sure some of the other swatchers used it that way so keep an eye on the website for those. Again, bust out that glitter smoothing topcoat for this one.

Last, but certainly not least, we have Very Berry Christmas which is a berry crelly base with fine red and holo silver metallic micro flakes with a scattered holo finish. Guess what! This one dries to a smooth finish with just a coat of regular topcoat. I didn’t use any glitter-smoothing topcoat for these swatches. This one leans a little more red than purple to my eye, but it’s the perfect shade for December. This one was really opaque and only needed 2 coats for full coverage.
