Imani Evans – TV Presenter — Your Site Title

“I think the beauty industry has definitely changed. We are embracing more different looks; we’re definitely seeing more girls with Afros and curly hair featured in campaigns.”
How did you get into your role as TV presenter?
I started my social media journey 15 years ago, back when it was fresh and exciting. As I began sharing content, my viral photos caught the attention of TV producers. Once one producer takes notice, word spreads, and suddenly, you’re presented with multiple TV opportunities. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of some amazing projects over the years, with Tempting Fortune being the latest chapter in this exciting journey.
What is your holy grail beauty product?
The Glowcery Superfood Serum; I use it everyday.
How did you build up such a big following on social media?
I built my following by simply being my bold, vibrant self. With my massive Afro, I stood out in a way that wasn’t typical in the UK. While it might not turn heads in the US, rocking an Afro here felt like a statement. As I shared my content and people saw my British roots, my community grew. With Instagram videos, I was able to showcase my personality through fashion and create feel-good, shareable content. Confidence is contagious, and I think that’s what people connect with. I feel incredibly blessed to inspire and connect with so many amazing people.
What was your first beauty product?
My first beauty product ever was St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I won’t lie, I used to love it – scrubbing away like it was doing wonders for my skin. Back then, I didn’t really know any better, so I thought, “Hey, an exfoliant is an exfoliant, right?” But now, looking back, I can’t believe I was practically scratching my skin off. Those were the days, though. My best friend would probably have a meltdown if she knew I was using it back then. Let’s just say, St. Ives Apricot Scrub is definitely in the past now.
What is in your makeup bag?
My makeup bag is super simple because I’m all about healthy, glowing skin over layers of makeup. As long as my skin is glowing, I’m good to go. One product I absolutely swear by is Revolution Body Glow, which I mix right into my foundation. I’ve been using it for four years, and I’m hooked. I love when my cheeks, nose, and skin have that dewy, natural glow. The first time I used it, everyone wanted to know what foundation I was wearing. Now you know my glow-up secret.
Which foundation do you use?
The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation is a total game changer, especially when I mix in the Revolution Body Glow. I love how lightweight it feels, as I’m not really a heavy makeup person. I prefer my makeup to look and feel natural, like the “no makeup” makeup look. With NARS, it’s the perfect balance; not too heavy and not too obvious. It gives me a beautiful, natural glow without that full-coverage feel. It’s just the right amount of radiance for a flawless, fresh-faced finish.
Which skincare products you use?
I’ve finally perfected my skincare routine, and my skin loves it. After struggling with skin issues as a teenager and young adult, I now get compliments on my skin all the time. My routine is simple: I use Simple Nourishing Face Wash, Simple Moisturising Face Wash, and Dermalogica Micro Exfoliant. Then, I follow up with Sukin Moisturiser and The Glowcery Clean Greens. I also use a Simple Moisturising Sheet Mask once a week, sometimes paired with my face steamer to open pores. Keeping it simple has transformed my skin and saves me time and money. I’m so grateful for the results.
Which hair products do you use?
I’ve finally perfected my hair routine after experimenting with different textures and figuring out what works best for me. My hair has thick middle sections, straight ends, and a mix in the front, so finding the right products was key. My top product is Olaplex Bond Smoother – it’s the best leave-in conditioner I’ve ever used, and I don’t plan on changing it. I also love Nexus Shampoo, specifically the Nexxus Humectress with protein. I’ve found my hair responds best to products rooted in science, and though Olaplex is pricey, it’s totally worth it. I also use hair oil and DAX Grease for scalp care.
How do you think the beauty industry has changed since 2020?
The beauty industry has come such a long way, and I couldn’t be happier to see so many Afros and curly haired women finally being celebrated in campaigns. It’s about time. Growing up, we waited for this representation, and now it’s happening not just in beauty, but in fashion too. I remember being the only one with natural hair on set, but now I see so many women who look like me in shoots and on brand websites – it’s beautiful. This shift is inspiring more women to embrace their natural hair. Brands now love Afro hair, and I urge everyone to support these campaigns, whether by liking, sharing, or buying. By doing so, we show that we deserve to be at the forefront and represent products just as beautifully as anyone else. Let’s keep supporting this change.
