Blake Lively’s Lawsuits Reportedly Ruining Ryan Reynolds Career
Ryan Reynolds is a big name in Hollywood. He’s Deadpool. He owns the football club Wrexham A.F.C, and with the docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, has made the team one of the most successful sports stories in the past few years. And yet these days, people keep trying to make his career about his wife, Blake Lively, and her recent issues with It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
The return of Deadpool, and Reynolds appearing as the character at the Marvel panel at 2026’s San Diego Comic Con, is, according to The Daily Mail, proof that Reynolds isn’t as affected by the scandal as some expected and maybe even hoped.

“He’s made people afraid of him over the years because he’s quite powerful in Hollywood – and he knows it,” one Hollywood executive told the outlet. “Ryan makes people so much money, which is why his businesses don’t seem to be affected by the lawsuit.”
Lively sued Baldoni and his production company in December 2024 for sexual harassment on the set of It Ends With Us and defamation. Baldoni responded with his own lawsuit, but it was dismissed, as was part of Lively’s. After that, the two settled the matter, with Lively requesting Baldoni pay her legal fees.
Reportedly, Reynolds felt some of the backlash. “There are some studios who are still stepping back from Ryan,” one studio executive told the Daily Mail. “They think he’s a really nice guy and a great actor. He’s actually really pleasant to work with. But his fee is high and they don’t want to deal with the baggage in the press that he comes with right now because of the lawsuit.”
“That’s not to say that there aren’t some people that don’t mind, but there are definitely still companies distancing themselves from him at the moment because of his wife.”
Another insider agreed, saying, “There’s no question the situation has dented his image to an extent, but Ryan is confident he’ll recover more quickly the more he focuses on his own projects and lets his work speak for itself.”
But it’s not like Reynolds is struggling in any way: “His production company still operates as status quo. It doesn’t seem like people are unwilling to work with him from a film perspective.”
Additionally, In Touch reported that Reynolds is hoping a movie with his The Proposal co-star, Sandra Bullock, is just what the doctor ordered. “Ryan’s special relationship with Sandra is a trump card he hasn’t had to pull yet during all the crazy legal battles of the last 20 months over It Ends With Us and the fight between Blake and Justin Baldoni,” a source explained. “He and Sandra have always had plans to work together again.”
“Ryan believes that over time he’ll be able to separate his films, business ventures, and public image from Blake’s legal issues,” another source claimed. “In his eyes, much of the public fatigue is centered on the dispute itself and the people directly involved, while he still maintains a great deal of goodwill and respect within Hollywood.”
Things have been rougher for Lively. “While the ongoing legal battle has had some impact on him simply through association, the bigger career fallout has been on her side,” sources confirmed.
Reynolds is, reportedly, aware of this and “knows it’s a delicate balancing act, but he believes it’s entirely possible to move forward professionally while remaining loyal to Blake.” Sources continued, “And despite everything that’s happened, he’s optimistic that, given enough time, both of their careers will eventually find solid footing again.”
