SOSU Cosmetics Recalls Eyeshadow Palette Over Arsenic Contamination

THE WHAT?  Irish brand SOSU Cosmetics has recalled its Peach Dreams eyeshadow palette after EU authorities detected unsafe levels of arsenic in several shades.

THE DETAILS The EU’s rapid alert system flagged batch number 20210405, manufactured in China, citing excessive arsenic content in the shades ‘Creme’, ‘Sorbet’, and ‘Peach’. The product was found to breach the EU Cosmetic Products Regulation due to its toxicological risk, which includes links to cancer, fertility issues, and organ damage. The distributor has withdrawn the palette from the market.

THE WHY? The recall highlights ongoing regulatory scrutiny of imported cosmetics and reinforces the risks for brands outsourcing production, where non-compliance can lead to reputational and financial damage across EU markets.
