The Inspiration
With its textured metallic bottle and opulent ingredients, Libre Vanille Couture radiates gold from inside and out—and can help you do the same.
YSL
In a press release, the brand noted that the long-lasting fragrance is meant to leave a trail of “pure opulence.” It features vanilla extract for Madagascar that was hand-pollinated and left to cure for over 18 months before being amplified by rum liquor absolute during formulation.
In the end, we were left with “a decadently sensual reinterpretation” of the beloved Libre Eau de Parfum that can add some decadence to your vanity, too.

The Fragrance
Sweet but bold, the aforementioned vanilla caviar from Madagascar and rum liquor absolute were paired with French diva lavender (that’s a real thing, even though French lavender is diva coded in general) and orange blossom accord from Morocco.

Together, the four notes create a gourmand amber-floral fragrance that really is as delectable as promised.
The Review
“In general, I am not a huge gourmand girlie, but there is something about the holiday season that makes me crave coziness, and nothing is cozier than vanilla. However, this is not your classic mall vanilla, it’s just as elegant as you would think something with notes of ‘diva lavender’ is. It’s sweet and comforting, but not cloying, and would be just as good for a holiday party as a chill night in by the fire. The orange blossom and lavender add a nice brightness that keeps it from being sticky sweet, rounding out the formula to be delicious and wearable. It will be a staple all winter long.” —Bella Cacciatore, senior news editor
