Great Lakes Lacquer Polish Pickup Optical Illusions October 2025 Swatches and Review

Great Lakes Lacquer’s contribution to the October 2025 Optical Illusions-themed polish is based on an image of the Chicago skyline reflecting on Lake Michigan from the Michigan side – it looks like the city is upside down! I got this polish only a couple days before the shop opened and unfortunately it sold out before I could get a post up, but I thought I would share it anyway in case you wanted to enjoy the images, if your ordered it. Otherwise, Polish Pickup does have a Rewind month where previous shades are offered again and due to this sellout it might be a future offering then.

Great Lakes Lacquer An Upside Down World is a slate gray-blue jelly with strong orange-gold-green multichrome iridescent shimmer. I wore it in four thin coats, but two or three will cover. It has a medium fast dry time and is not prone to bubbling. The polish has an almost supernatural glow. Having lived in Chicago for 5 years, it does remind me of how the air pollution would sometimes make the sky look a murky color like this, haha.
Inspiration: A photographed optical illusion of the Chicago skyline upside down taken from the shores of Lake Michigan’s East Coast.
Price: $14 / 800 cap
